ANNOUNCEMENT: SOLO EXHIBITION "UNTITLED" BY KOSTYA BENKOVICH IN CHISINAU
30 July – 30 August 2026
National Museum of Art of Moldova, 31 August 1989 Street 115, Chisinau
On July 30, the National Museum of Art of Moldova will host the opening of “Untitled,” a major solo exhibition by Kostya Benkovich. The project is implemented with the support of the ALT Foundation – Cultural Initiatives Fund of the Republic of Moldova. It is a great honor for the artist to present this milestone of his bold and uncompromising creative journey in the country's main state art museum.
The comprehensive exhibition summarizes a decade of intensive work, dynamically uniting iconic pieces from recent years and entirely new, breakthrough works. At the core of the project is a sharp, uncompromising dialogue with art history, canons of world culture, and the intense pressing agenda of today. Alongside the continuation of his recognizable series, the museum halls showcase fresh artistic explorations and experiments with new materials, reflecting the master's relentless evolution over the past ten years.
An important part of the institutional recognition of this powerful creative method was the inclusion of his version of "The Scream" (previously created as a bold street art intervention) in the foundational academic publication Edvard Munch: The Scream, edited by Professor Patricia G. Berman and published by the Munch Museum in Oslo. In this book, the exploration of the artist's method stands alongside the works of such titans of world art as Francis Bacon, Georg Baselitz, Jannis Kounellis, Tracey Emin, Louise Bourgeois, Andy Warhol, Marina Abramović, and other prominent figures.
Kostya Benkovich and the project team express their sincere gratitude to museum director Tudor Zbârnea and the entire team for their cooperation, high level of professionalism, and support.
