The Scream is one of the most significant and recognizable works by Kostya Benkovich, representing his personal reinterpretation of Edvard Munch’s iconic image within his own visual language.
The sculptural version of the work gained wide public attention after being installed in a public space in Moscow and was covered by international media, including The Moscow Times.
The work is also mentioned in the book “Edvard Munch: The Scream” by Patricia G. Berman, Joanna Iranowska, and Øyvind Vågnes, which explores the influence of The Scream on global culture and contemporary art. Benkovich is listed among the artists who reinterpreted this motif alongside Francis Bacon, Georg Baselitz, Jannis Kounellis, Tracey Emin, Louise Bourgeois, Andy Warhol, and Marina Abramović.
Today, The Scream is considered one of the key and most well-known works in the artist’s career. More detailed information can be found on the website in the Street Art section.
