Reverse Clock

Russia Day
Lower Novgorod is a place forever associated with Andrei Sakharov, Boris Nemtsov and Irina Slavina. Academician Andrey Sakharov, a harbinger of a new time and a new country, spent seven years in exile in Gorky for fighting against the totalitarian system. Boris Nemtsov-the first The governor of Nizhny Novgorod, a promising politician, a symbol of change and hope, was killed for his beliefs. Irina Slavina, an independent journalist and public activist, committed an act of self-immolation in response to lawlessness, leaving a Facebook post before her death: "I ask you to blame the Russian Federation for my death."
The mechanism of the clock, like Russia today, moves backward, not forward. In 1991, after the collapse of the USSR, there was a time of hope to live in a country of a victorious democracy with a set of liberal values, with freedom of speech, changeability of power, an honest court and equality of all before the law. Thirty years later, these hopes, unfortunately, were not fulfilled.

"Thirty pieces of silver"
"The Tree of Judas"
30.06.2020 St. Petersburg, Constitutional Court, Senatskaya Square, house 1
The name of Judas has become synonymous with betrayal, so they call corrupt people and hypocrites. The stable phraseology "thirty pieces of silver" is used in the meaning of the price of betrayal. The Constitutional Court allowed the reform of the constitution to be carried out, we have witnessed a deception of a biblical scale. The unbearable torments of Judas ' conscience should serve as a lesson to all lovers of money who trade in our future.
The Flag
22.08.2019 Saint-Petersburg, Millionnaya 29
The action is devoted to Russian National Flag Day that is celebrated on August 22. August 2019 was marked by peaceful political protests, but, subsequently, these protests were cruelly dispersed, and people were detained with the flag of Russia in their hands. Courts in the so-called «Moscow case» are still ongoing. The Flag of Russia is designed in the form of prison bars, which expresses the idea of the unfulfilled dream. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 everyone hoped to live in the country of victorious democracy with liberal values, freedom of speech, the transition of power, fair trial and equality before the law for everyone. The flag was a crucial symbol of change. Unfortunately, a twenty-eight year later these hopes were not realized. The flag still hangs on Millionnaya Street near the building of the Rosgvardiya and the Winter Palace. It was the Palace Square that protests of millions of people took place in August 1991, which has led to democratic developments and global changes in the political system. Specifications:

The Scream
Moscow, Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge
Concept
In the past three decades, the Kremlin has become a place of dialogue between the artist and the authority. With my artwork, I want to transfer dread and fear, pain and consternation – the feelings which have overtaken people after the assassination of politician Boris Nemtsov. Like in the Munch`s picture «The Scream», the action goes on a bridge. The screaming face which is made from rebar was installed by me on the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge, near the memorial dedicated to Boris Nemtsov.
The destiny of the work is non-typical for street art. Volunteers of the memorial have accepted and saved this artwork. During 2019, it has been appeared and vanished again from time to time.
